Autumn Update - News from the Museum

The wonderful Stuart Stanley Theatre Design Exhibition, featuring design sketches, technical drawings and set models from his time at the Thorndike Theatre, has now closed. It was one of our most popular exhibits ever, with visitors coming from far and wide to see Stuart's amazing design work. Many of our visitors came because they had a connection with the theatre, either working there or having been regular patrons. We were sad to see it all packed away last week and heading back to Stuart's home.

The empty Gallery is now getting a quick clean and a revamp of the steward's refreshment area, before we hang our new exhibition. Watch this space and local noticeboards for details.

The museum will close for the winter on Saturday 9th December, but until then you'll find lots of fun things to see and do in the museum, including Jane Austen's Leatherhead, The Interactive Kitchen and our River Room Timeline. Come and say hello to Dug our archeologist mole mascot (he has his own Instagram account @DugDigsHistory) and pop in later this month for exciting new festive items in our museum shop.
